Location
The Winthrop-Dahl Nature Preserve is just pass the bridge over I-495 heading north toward Mansfield on North Washington Street. This preserve is not currently open due to the expansion of the World War II Veterans Memorial Trail running through the property.
Story
Previously, a short trail into the woods lead to one of Norton's largest vernal pools, a favorite among amphibian populations. Proceeding further, you will be greeted by an abundance of songbirds that enjoy the large patch of goldenrod blooming in the late summer along with the nearby meadows and openness afforded by the proximity to the Mansfield Airport.
Trail Qualities
The Winthrop-Dahl Nature Preserve's trail is unmarked and unfortunately, quite changed by recent work done to maintain the Mansfield Airport's neighboring treelines. We look forward to updating you on when the natural character of this site recovers and is fit to be fully enjoyed.
